Delete Local Account in OS X Using the Command Line

To delete a local account on an OS X system using the command line you need to issue two commands.  The two steps are:

  1. Delete the actual account from the local user database
  2. Delete the accounts home folder

If I wanted to delete a local account with a short name of “bobross” then I would issue the commands:
